In a rain-hit 40-over match, the South Africa Women’s national cricket team dominated every phase. Laura Wolvaardt played a classy knock of 90 runs. Sune Luus and Marizanne Kapp hit quick fifties, while Nadine de Klerk smashed 41 off just 16 balls. Together, they powered South Africa Women to 312/9.
Wolvaardt, Luus, and Kapp Power South Africa’s Innings
Batting first, Laura Wolvaardt started strong, hitting a boundary off the first ball. Her opening partner Tazmin Brits fell early, edging to slip off Fatima Sana. Rain delayed the game for two and a half hours, reducing it to 40 overs.
Once play resumed, South Africa launched a counterattack. Wolvaardt and Sune Luus added 118 runs for the second wicket. Luus reached her half-century in 55 balls before falling to Nashra Sandhu.
Wolvaardt followed up with a solid fifty and built another key stand with Marizanne Kapp. The skipper missed her century by 10 runs, getting stumped off Sandhu’s bowling.
Marizanne Kapp and De Klerk Finish Strong
Kapp hit an unbeaten 68 off 46 balls, while Chloe Tryon and Nadine de Klerk added the final fireworks. De Klerk hit four sixes and three fours in her 16-ball storm. South Africa finished with a commanding 312/9 — a huge score in a shortened game.
Pakistan Women Struggle in Chase
Chasing a revised target of 234 in 20 overs after multiple rain interruptions, the Pakistan Women’s national cricket team never found momentum. Muneeba Ali hit a boundary early but soon fell to Ayabonga Khaka.
Sidra Amin, Omaima Sohail, and Aliya Riaz also fell quickly, with Marizanne Kapp taking three wickets in her spell. Pakistan slipped to 35/4 within ten overs.
The rain kept returning, forcing several target revisions — 299 in 37 overs, then 270 in 27, and later 262 in 25 — but it didn’t help Pakistan’s cause. They could only manage 83/7 when the final overs were bowled.
Spin Seals the Deal for South Africa
Nonkululeko Mlaba and Nondumiso Shangase bowled tight spells, taking two wickets between them. Natalia Pervaiz and Fatima Sana fell cheaply as Pakistan’s lower order collapsed.
Tryon and Luus finished the game to ensure a clear result despite the weather. South Africa Women won by 150 runs (DLS) — a victory that kept them unbeaten in the tournament.
